Interior Design Tips To Make Your Event Stand Out From The Crowd

March 15, 2022 Jessica Stewart

Your event’s aesthetic is crucial to its success. No one wants to look at blank white walls while they are trying to enjoy a party. You want your event to be fun, unique, and stand out from the crowd. Many venues like New York City’s BKLYN Studios and Glasshouse offer a neutral decor, giving you the ability to incorporate your own design ideas. You don’t have to be Pablo Picasso to make your event shine among others. There are many easy tips that even the most amateur of event planners can learn to make them seem like professional interior designers.

Food and Beverage Display

For better or for worse, everyone will be talking about your food after leaving your event. Of course it is always great to have the creme de la creme of catering, but positioning and displaying your food is equally important. Think of your food display as a work of art. You want it to be organized and catch the eyes of your attendees. Position your catering tables so they are easy to get to, as well as your drink service. Take advantage of the space and make sure your hungry attendees can quickly grab a bite.

Creative Backdrops

When you are creating an event, it’s important to ask yourself these questions: who are you and what message are you trying to get across? If you are incorporating a stage, which many events do, take advantage of a backdrop to showcase your brand. Put the time into choosing colors, images, and text that are eye-catching. Depending on your budget, LED screens are an option. LED screens give you far more options to show branding, images, and video content. Humans are extremely visual so it’s always important to never slack on how you visually showcase your brand.

Decorations

When choosing decorations for your next event, there are a few things that you have to consider. First, you have to establish the theme and tone that you are trying to convey. Do you want a formal setting? Do you want a night club feel? Figuring out your basic tone will make it easier to pick out the decorations that match. It is equally important to know what you want to be the emphasis of the event. Do you want people to be drawn to the stage? Or maybe you want people to be focused on the dining tables. Setting up beautiful decorations in well-thought-out ways will steer your attendees in the right direction.

Color

Color is essential for creating the perfect atmosphere for your event. It helps set the tone and feel of your soiree and there are many ways to use color to your advantage. Sticking to one color scheme could be a good idea rather than incorporating the entire rainbow. Once you know your color scheme, use it for the chairs, linens, drapes, and more. If your budget allows it, setting up lights is another good idea to showcase colors. Spotlights and room lighting are a great way to create a colorful and eye-catching aesthetic.

Furniture

The type of furniture that you use depends greatly on what type of event you are setting up and who is attending. If you know that many of your attendees are seniors, you may want to refrain from using high-top chairs and tables. Put yourself into your guests’ shoes. What will they be doing throughout the party? If you expect a lot of networking, sofas and lounge chairs are a great idea so your guest can be comfortable when they talk. Food also comes into play. Obviously if you are serving dinner, you are going to want tables and chairs. But if you are also serving appetizers, you may want to consider bistro tables so your guests can mingle while they munch.

Minimalism

Sometimes less is more. Minimalist styles are definitely the trend right now, and they could be a perfect fit for you when planning your next event. You don’t want your guests to be blinded by walls overfilled with art and decorations. Putting focus on the right decorations is better than getting as many decorations as possible. At the same time, minimalist decor will make your space feel larger and less cluttered. If you are working with a smaller budget, using the minimalist approach could be the perfect way for you to make the most out of your space.

Mirrors

Incorporating mirrors, whether you add them yourself or you pick a venue that utilizes them, is a good way to boost your decor. Many interior designers will incorporate mirrors due to the fact that they are known for making a room appear bigger. This could be perfect for someone working on a tight budget, or if they are planning a smaller event. Mirrors come in all shapes and sizes and you can use them as artistic decorations as well. Also, your guests will be gracious due to the fact that they won’t have to travel to the restroom to make sure they are looking their best.
