The mid-summer season is still in full swing, and August has some incredibly fun activities in the works. One in particular that New Yorkers always look forward to is the Poster House Block Party. Poster House is the first official museum in the United States that is dedicated entirely to posters. Located on 23rd Street, nestled between Sixth and Seventh Avenues, the museum is the force behind the summer block party. And this year’s street fun has an exciting itinerary!
The Official Details
The Poster House officially opened to the public in 2019. But it’s the Poster House Block Party that is a must-attend. Mark your calendars for Saturday, August 6th, from 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Head to the Flatiron Plaza for a full afternoon of activities suitable for all ages. This block party coincides with the Festival of New York, already celebrating a host of activities running from Memorial Day through to Labor Day.
What Attendees Can Expect This Year
This year’s Poster House Block Party is going to be awesome! The itinerary includes a host of activities for all attendees, including live screen printing with the legendary poster maker, Mike King, poster giveaways by New York City X Design, an interactive wheat-pasting wall, customized photo ops with Fotografiska, and a Micro Museum presentation by The Simmons Foundation.
There will also be zine printing with the Center for Book Arts, math mazes hosted by the National Museum of Mathematics, and mapmaking with the Madison Square Park Conservancy. Bring the littles for learning and exploration, too! There will be a full roster of kid-friendly festivities, including face painting and stamp making. Expect live dancing, musical performances, and so much more!

Attendees will also get free admission to Poster House throughout the block party event. And there will be prizes, giveaways, and games throughout the day. Additionally, Poster House says you can register online to receive up-to-the-minute updates on activities and performance updates as the day approaches.
