FIFA World Cup Action Comes Close to Home

The world’s biggest soccer tournament is heading to the New York area in 2026, and fans won’t have to travel far to be part of it. MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford will host eight FIFA World Cup matches, including the tournament’s championship match on July 19th.

The World Cup Lands in the NYC Area

Several major national teams are scheduled to play in the area during the tournament, including Brazil, France, England, and Germany. MetLife Stadium will also host knockout-round matches before welcoming the World Cup Final later in the summer.

Getting a ticket to a match isn’t the only way to join the action. Official fan zones and watch parties are planned throughout the city. Rockefeller Center will host the NYNJ Fan Village. Brooklyn Bridge Park and the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens will welcome fans with match screenings, entertainment, food vendors, and other World Cup activities.

The tournament is expected to bring visitors from around the globe to the region, but local fans have a rare opportunity to experience the event close to home. Between the matches, fan festivals, and public watch parties, World Cup season will be hard to miss around New York.
