New York City’s 13th Annual Winter Film Festival is back to celebrate diversity in the film industry and showcase new voices from filmmakers worldwide. Festival-goers can expect to see phenomenal work in feature films, short stories, documentaries, animation, horror, web series, and music videos. What is the Winter Film Festival?
The Winter Film Festival was founded in 2011 by women and minority filmmakers and arts enthusiasts from New York City. The goal was to make indie films more accessible and give talented artists a chance to break into the industry and build lasting careers.
The festival is an in-person event where films are screened in two theaters with 70 and 130 seats. WFF shows a wide variety of films across all genres and formats.
When and Where is the Winter Film Festival Happening?
The Winter Film Festival kicks off on February 19th, 2025 with an opening night bash at Somewhere Nowhere atop the Renaissance NY Hotel in Chelsea. This rooftop party is free to the public, but you must register in advance.
The festival continues until February 23rd, 2025, with multiple screenings every day at LOOK Cinemas, 657 West 57th Street, New York, NY.
What Can Festival-Goers Expect to See at the Winter Film Festival?
The 2025 WFF will have 87 official selections covering a number of genres submitted by filmmakers from 20 countries. These selections will include 16 student films and 26 first-time filmmakers. Half of the selections were created by women and half were created by or about people of color.
Audiences can expect to see a lot of diversity and creativity!
Where Do I Purchase Tickets?
The WFF has several ticketing options including All Access passes, packages for specific genres, plus free parties, mixers, and educational talks with filmmakers.
For the films at LOOK Cinema, tickets are $5.00 for matinees and $12.50 for evening films.
