The Reigning NBA Champs Kick Off The New Season at MSG

It took 53 years, but the Knicks finally did it. Last season ended with an NBA championship, a parade through Manhattan, and a whole lot of very happy New Yorkers. Now the team gets to start its title defense at home. On October 20th, the Knicks welcome the Philadelphia 76ers to Madison Square Garden for a 7:00 PM game and a celebration of the championship that fans waited decades to see.

The Champs Are Back at the Garden

Before the game, the Knicks will receive their championship rings and raise the banner at Madison Square Garden. It will be the first time the team has opened a season as defending NBA champions since 1973.

Jalen Brunson comes into the new season as the reigning Finals MVP, and Karl-Anthony Towns returns for another season in New York. After everything the team accomplished last year, fans finally get to see their champions take the Garden floor again.

The Philadelphia 76ers get the honor of showing up for ring night, but this night belongs to New York. After more than five decades without a championship, Knicks fans finally get to see their team start a season with the trophy already in the building.
