Check Out the West Indian Day Parade

Brooklyn is getting ready for one of its biggest celebrations of the year. The West Indian Day Parade returns Monday, September 7, 2026, bringing Caribbean music, elaborate costumes, flags, dancing, and plenty of incredible food to Eastern Parkway.

The Labor Day tradition travels along Eastern Parkway from Utica Avenue to Grand Army Plaza, filling the route with the sights and sounds of Caribbean culture. Expect masqueraders dressed in feathers, sequins, and vibrant costumes alongside steel-pan and calypso music and celebrations representing nations including Trinidad and Tobago, Haiti, Barbados, Jamaica, Guyana, Saint Lucia, Dominica, and others. Food vendors along the route add another very good reason to arrive hungry.

For the main event, plan for a long, high-energy day outdoors and plenty of company. The parade is free to watch, so pick your spot along Eastern Parkway and settle in for one of NYC’s signature Labor Day traditions.
