Bryant Park Brings Back Picnic Performances
For anyone spending summer in Midtown, Bryant Park offers more than a place to sit in the shade. On select dates through September 11th, Picnic Performances brings free live entertainment to the lawn, with music, dance, theater, and performances taking place beneath the Manhattan skyline.
Music, Dance, and Theater Under the Skyline
The annual series transforms Bryant Park into an outdoor stage throughout the summer. Performances feature artists and organizations from around the world, with programs that range from classical music and opera to contemporary dance, jazz, and cultural traditions from across the globe.
Part of the appeal is how easy the experience feels. Visitors can pull up a park chair, bring a blanket, spread out on the lawn, and settle in for an evening performance. You’re also welcome to bring your own picnic or pick up food and drinks from vendors in the park.
This year’s season includes performances connected to several major anniversaries, including programs celebrating America’s 250th anniversary, a tribute to Ella Fitzgerald, and a closing event marking the 25th anniversary of September 11.
With performances scheduled throughout the season, there’s still plenty of time to catch a show before summer comes to a close. The full lineup is available on the Bryant Park website.
